An Teallach Ridge
After completing my illustration series of the 3 peaks, I received a commission to illustrate the ridge of An Teallach by a keen climber who favours trips to this location.
Unlike the colourful Scafell Pike illustration, I felt the mood and atmosphere of this ridge in Scotland was more sombre and imposing, which reflected in the colour palliate and mark making,
Unlike my usual work in gouache, I used entirely digital techniques to create this piece, leaning on my usual style of using the lasso tool to draw shapes before painting textures into them, which helped me to create the sharp edges and lines that reflect the severity of this ridge.
Below you can see my initial rough sketch followed by a tonal rough for this piece.
