Scafell Pike

I created this landscape illustration as part of a self initiated project to illustrate the 3 peaks of the U.K., after a trip to Glencoe to climb Ben Nevis.

I noticed in the souvenir shop of the main Ben Nevis tourist office that there weren’t many colourful illustrative products about the mountain or the trail, and so decided to make my own for the 3 peaks.

In this illustration of Scafell Pike I aimed to capture the fun of this walk and the atmosphere of the place during summer when I visited.

I later experimented with adding a foreground of foliage and birds from another project to play with the idea of using birds to add a bit more narrative and movement to the landscape.

Both the landscape illustration and the birds were created with a gouache and crayon underpainting, which I then touched up and added further details to digitally.
