Autumn Warmth Notebook Cover
I loved creating this cover design for an autumnal notebook.
The brief was set as an art challenge by a stationary designer I greatly admire, and included notes to give the cover a ‘witchy feel’.
I chose to incorporate a lantern to give the nighttime scene a source of warmth and interesting lighting.
I like to use symbolic features in many of my illustrations, and the moth at the top of this piece is there to symbolise transformation and growth a notebook can encourage. Whether that is growth in a project though ideas and notes or emotional growth through journaling, notebooks and the act of writing can often help us grow and develop and I wanted to represent this idea.
The mountainscape is a decorative element to tie in the front and back covers, and add an interesting sense of scale to the other elements.
While the small house with a path leading from it also symbolises a journey of some sort, representative of the journey you go on from the beginning to end of a notebook.
