Great White

I created this animated spot illustration in response to an online article in National Geographic, which stated that around 5 people a year are killed by sharks, but meanwhile humans kill around 11,400 sharks per hour.

Marine conservation is a topic close to my heart, with shark conservation in particular fascinating me.

I painted a base layer in gouache and then created each frame by digitally overpainting the traditional gouache layer, giving the animation a gritty traditional texture.
